Getting back to school: A presentation for teachers and support staff

Adjusting back into the new normal will be both a challenge but also an opportunity for school staff to review teaching and learning practices and procedures.

This will be a virtual presentation where the SF3R approach will be introduced and explored in order to prepare and support the transition back into the school community.
Key areas to be outlined.

  • Learning behaviour in the new normal
  • Structure in terms of re-establishing boundaries and expectations
  • Flexibility in terms of supporting mood and motivation
  • Rapport in terms of effective and proactive communication
  • Relationships in terms of the school as a whole community
  • Resilience in terms of supporting staff and students

Option 1

This will be a 60 minute live presentation with an additional 30 minute Q and A session.

Option 2

An extended pre-recorded 90 minute presentation with 3 part 30 minute sessions with a live 60 minute Q and A session to be arranged 2 days after the recording becomes available.

No two children are the same: Understanding and supporting Neurodiversity

This will be a virtual INSET presentation for staff at your school, which could include parents, in relation to learning, behaviour and socialisation issues during lockdown and preparing for transition back to school.

Issues to be covered will include

  • Demystifying the traits of ADHD and ASD
  • Mood and motivation management and dealing with anxiety
  • Adaptation of learning practices in the new normal
  • Developing rapport through effective communication
  • Effectively managing structured and non- structured time within social distancing rituals and routines
  • Developing rapport through effective communication
  • Effective working in partnerships between school and home

Option 1

This will be a 60 minute live presentation with an additional 30 minute Q and A session.

Getting even more curious: Supporting children with ASD and ADHD in the new normal

Neurodiversity is a term which was first coined in the late 1990s to describe conditions such as Dyslexia, Autism and ADHD as not disorders but rather more like variations or differences of the human brain.

This will be a virtual INSET presentation for staff at your school to support learning, behaviour and socialisation issues and preparation for transition back to school.

  • Neurodiversity explained and explored
  • Mood and Motivation
  • Rituals and Routines for learning and behaviour
  • Effective communication and working in partnership with school
  • Dealing with Distraction, Disruption and Defiance

Reducing anxiety and dealing with defiance for children with traits of ODD and/or PDA 

This will be a virtual INSET presentation for staff at your school that could include parents, in relation to learning, behaviour and socialisation issues during lockdown and preparing for transition back to school.

Issues to be covered will include

  • Demystifying the traits of ODD and PDA
  • Establishing boundaries and responsibilities
  • Dealing with oppositional behaviours and defiance
  • De-escalation and distraction techniques for anger and aggression 
  • Effective working in partnerships between school and home
